It’s almost that time again, where we shop, and buy, and give gifts to our friends, neighbors and loved ones for Christmas. So, it got me thinking, what is the best gift I’ve ever received?

I didn’t have to think very hard to remember what it felt like as a young woman, out on my own, and my mother and stepfather gave me a stereo/turntable for Christmas. Mom never spent much money on any gift, for any occasion, so I was stunned, shocked, surprised and thrilled. I just couldn’t believe it.
As a young woman back in the 1980’s all we had to listen to in the car was the AM/FM radio. There was no such thing as Alexa in those years. The only way to listen to music in your own home was a LP turn table and a stack of vinyl records.

I was in my 20’s when my parents gave me that, and it was outdated a decade later. I wish I still had that stereo, but I don’t. It would be a collector’s item now. That and the vinyl records. Things like Led Zepplin, which I listened to constantly, and the Beatles White Album. Do you remember those?
Anyway, I hope this takes you down memory lane to a wonderful time when you received the best gift ever!
