What are you good at?
I am good at leading. Directing traffic, in the boardroom and in the outback. I think I may have been born with this gift, not really sure, but it can be an asset and a liability.

I believe there are a million ways to accomplish the same task, and what is important is not necessarily the final destination. And so two people can disagree on the road to get there, but both will usually arrive identical to each other.
The journey is the important part. It counts. It does. But I like helping others find their direction in life. I like seeing them light up when I suggest another way to find a solution to something someone felt was unimaginable.

Sometimes a fork in the road can be paralyzing. I’ve always felt that different directions lead to the same outcome just involve a different excursion to get there. The Universe has a way of leading us through obstacles we need in order to grow and mature. Even hardships can serve a purpose.
In my life, being a leader, also means I can, at times, be out of balance. Being a leader is referred to in the Chinese beliefs as Yang. But, I need more Yin. I need softness, because at times, I can take charge and drive an army into battle. Yin is associated with things like the moon, water, shadows, femininity and stillness. In contrast, yang is active, hot, bright, hard, masculine, external, and linked to the sun and movement.

A real leader is both. Able to instruct, but also able to inspire. To give credit where credit is due and to sit back and let the natural events of finding solutions be worked out by others.
A true leader is not a tyrant. What a true leader needs is collaboration. I know sometimes I look for solutions, but it is in the cooperation with others which bring solutions to problems that have never before been solved.
